Which European country was a close ally of the People's Republic of China in the 1960s?
Albania was a communist country which decided to stand on the Chinese side during the Soviet-Chinese split. Afterwards, relations between both countries improved greatly. Albanian newspapers were reprinted in Chinese newspapers and read on Chinese radio. Albania led the movement to give the People's Republic of China a seat in the UN, replacing the Republic of China's (Taiwan) seat in 1971.
