The Umbilicus Urbis Romae ( "Navel of the City of Rome") was the symbolic centre of the city from which, and to which, all distances in Ancient Rome were measured. It was situated in the Roman Forum. Originally covered in marble, the Umbilicus is now a forlorn-looking brick core some 2 metres high and 4.45 metres in diameter.

Umbilicus Urbis Romae (zwany także Mundus, pępek Rzymu albo pępek świata) to niewielki, okrągły, ceglany monument, stojący na Forum Romanum, nieopodal Łuku Septymiusza Sewera i Rostry. Wyznaczał centrum Rzymu, a także miejsce kontaktu pomiędzy światem żywych i światem zmarłych.

Der kleine Tempel galt als Nabel der Stadt und Mittelpunkt des Imperium Romanum. Von hier aus wurden die Meilen der römischen Heerstraßen gezählt. Zugleich galt er als Mundus, als Stelle, an der sich Oberwelt und Unterwelt berühren. Hier wurden den Göttern der Unterwelt Opfer dargebracht.
