The Kingdom of Kush was an ancient kingdom situated south of Egypt, on the confluences of the Blue Nile and White Nile. Approximately 255 pyramids were constructed at three sites (including Meroe listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site) over a period of a few hundred years to serve as tombs for the Kushite kings and queens. These steep pyramids differ from Egyptian ones and were constructed much later.

Starożytne Królestwo Kusz znajdowało się na południe od Egiptu, w górnym biegu Nilu. Pozostało po nim około 225 piramid, zgrupowanych w trzech miejscach, najwięcej w Meroe. Piramidy wybudowano znacznie później od egipskich i wyraźnie się od nich różnią: są mniejsze, ale bardziej strome.

Das Reich von Kusch lag im Norden des heutigen Sudan. Die sicherlich auffälligsten Denkmäler kuschitischer Kultur sind nun die königlichen Pyramiden. Sie sind aus Stein errichtet, aber viel kleiner als ihre ägyptischen Vorbilder. Pyramiden wurden in Nubien schon im Neuen Reich von hohen dort residierenden Beamten errichtet.
