Dust Bowl is the period (1931-1938), in which nineteen states in the area of the Great Plains in the United States were affected by ecological catastrophe resulting from drought and severe soil erosion. This facilitated the formation of anhydrous dust storms called "dusterami". By 1934, more than 100 million hectares had lost the top, fertile soil layer.
